Review

Mangmi came out of nowhere in late 2025 and delivered one of the most impressive handhelds at the budget price point. This portable device is a really enjoyable way to play Android games and systems like the PSP on a wide screen with full controls.

The Air X holds its own when it comes to components and features. The buttons and D-pad are unconventionally smooth and plasticky, which, in my opinion, gives the whole experience a surprisingly pleasant feel. The screen, while not OLED, is quite good. The colors look sharp and vivid, and the 1080p resolution is more than enough to make all your retro games shine on the 5.5" display. The fan and ergonomic grips are a welcome addition; I've never felt any overheating on my hands with the kind of games I play.

I found myself using the Mangmi Air X as my main handheld for two use cases: PSP emulation, which it handles beautifully, and Android games. I've played a lot of ScourgeBringer, a fast-paced action roguelike, and Stardew Valley, a beloved farming simulator with great story and progression.

One downside is that I wish it could run more demanding systems like the PS2 and GameCube. It's a testament to how much I enjoy playing on the Air X, I want to use it for as many games as possible. Of course, emulating those systems isn't feasible at this price range; the components are simply too expensive. That said, I wouldn't mind paying a bit more for a more powerful system with the same form factor, buttons, and features.

All in all, the Mangmi Air X punches well above its weight. At around the $100 mark, it offers one of the best price-to-quality ratios out there. I can't recommend it enough.
